Technology
While we’re always learning new technologies, adding to our skills and dropping out of date techniques, we do have our preferred way of developing sites. Our preferences have always been for standards based languages and systems, and now strongly prefer open source, community based development platforms, as opposed to closed, proprietary systems. They tend to be better designed, the support structure is incredible, and the applications of these systems are limited only to a large groups' creative impulses.
Greyhound Design has extensive experience hand coding HTML to bring a graphic design to life on the web. Custom client side interactivity is added using sophisticated Javascript and AJAX scripts, allowing for dynamic and interactive sites without needing smart-phone and tablet hating technologies like Flash.
Backend functionality is handled with custom PHP interacting with MySQL databases.
If you’re in need of some more esoteric skills, our C/C++ programming can be remembered, and we can bulk up our passing familiarity with ASP, VBScript, Perl and the 4D database.
My preference for hosting has been Hostmonster, although there are many other reputable Linux based hosts out there that provide amazing packages for very small prices… let us all just agree on two things: 1) the days of $50/month hosting are behind us and 2) don't use GoDaddy... O.K.?
